On September 18 this year, Apple announced that the UK release date for the iPhone will be November 9 and that the exclusive carrier will be Telefónica O2, a major European telephone company with both fixed and mobile communication products. If you want to buy iPhone UK you have to sign an 18-month long contract with O2. In addition to the UK iPhone price of £269.00, you must therefore be prepared to pay at least £35 per month for the pleasure of owning and using an iPhone in the UK.
Telefónica O2 has announced that they will offer three different UK iPhone plans, with a monthly fee ranging from £35 to £55. The cheapest available plan comes with 200 minutes and 200 SMS, as well as voicemail, WiFi, and unlimited data. If you add £10 to your monthly fee you will get the middle plan which includes 600 minutes and 500 SMS. The most expensive iPhone plan from O2 has the same amount of SMS as the £45 plan, but twice the amount of minutes (i.e.1200 minutes per month). This plan costs £55 per month and just like the other two plans it naturally comes with voicemail, WiFi, and unlimited data. Regardless of which O2 iPhone plan you pick, you have to enter an 18-month long contract with O2, there are no shorter alternatives.
